A New Era of Satellite Data Accessibility: Open Weather APT
A Powerful New Tool for Weather Enthusiasts
What is Open Weather APT?
Open Weather APT is a user-friendly, browser-based decoder designed to unlock the potential of Automatic Picture Transmissions (APT) from NOAA satellites 19, 18, and 15. Developed in collaboration with @prismspecs, @rctngle, and Bill Liles NQ6Z, this tool empowers weather enthusiasts of all levels to delve deeper into satellite imagery.
How Does it Work?
Simply upload a WAV file of any sample rate to our website, and Open Weather APT will decode it, providing you with a wealth of information. You can explore the decoded images, analyze weather patterns, and gain valuable insights.
A Redesigned Public Archive
To further enhance your experience, we’ve completely revamped our Public Archive. Now hosted on Greenhost and powered by renewable energy, the archive offers a more intuitive and visually appealing interface.
Key Features of the Redesigned Archive:
- Seamless Navigation: Easily filter data by satellite, ground station operator, and nowcast.
- Enhanced Accessibility: Download public archive data and explore it at your own pace.
- Ethical Data Usage: Please review our Data MOU before utilizing any data from the archive.
A New Contributor Form
We’ve also introduced a streamlined Contributor Form, hosted on Greenhost. This form simplifies the process of submitting WAV files and photos, automatically calculating UTC time from your local time zone.
A Collaborative Effort
The redesigned Public Archive and Contributor Form are the result of a close collaboration with @rctngle. We’re committed to providing you with the best possible tools to explore the fascinating world of satellite data.
